The trusty old BMG transfer of Caballero's forthright and tuneful military score has now reappeared on Novoson, coupled rather illogically with Giménez's El baile de Luis Alonso. The performance is notable for Rosado's superbly romantic, commanding heroine, and for good comedy work from Monreal, and altogether this is a more than useful stopgap until we have a good version in modern sound.
