The Argenta recording of Luna's Ruritanian comedy has finally [July 2009] been transferred to CD. Although hardly in the demonstration class as to sound, Novoson's transfer is smooth and palatable, and the performers - notably Lorengar and Ausensi - convey a winning elegance. This is light years better than the only currently available CD rival on EMI, which has Espinalt at her least ingratiating and - Torrento aside - weak supporting players. The low price, and generous coupling of La reina mora sugar the pill somewhat.
