A substantial set of extracts from one of Sorozábal's late zarzuelas, conducted with his usual point and fearsome energy by the composer himself. Although the music is less individual, more generic than the finest of his pre-war masterpieces, much of it is still very personable. The performers, mainly from the original cast, are first-class, with Iriarte and Medio in specially good form. With good, clear transfers from the original 78 rpm shellacs, this is self-recommending - despite the total lack of texts or notes and a less interesting coupling in the form of Romo's Un día de primavera.
