Vives' late zarzuela proves delightful, not least for two wonderful dúos for the sparring hero and heroine, sung and acted with full-frontal relish by their original creators Romeu and Pérez Carpio. The rest of these highlights aren't on this level, but the rarity of the original 78's makes this good Blue Moon transfer, with full texts and a contemporary review, highly desirable. The coupling, an early Bohemios with Tino Folgar, is less successful.
