First performed posthumously (1944) Serrano's last legacy to the genre he loved so much hardly rises to the level of his best works, but several numbers in this generous collection of highlights show that his consummate sense of theatrical timing never left him. The couplings on Blue Moon,El mal de amores and La mala sombra, are quite as rare, and of more musical substance.

The Homokord transfer is marginally smoother and more stable, but they do omit the pleasant Act 1 Preludio included by Blue Moon. Neither is their chosen coupling, a desirable classic version of Luna's Molinos de viento, so logical.
