Novoson's transfer of this famous Argenta performance is certainly good enough to recommend, with plenty of life in the sound and neat presentation. Ausensi's bluff humour in the title role is pleasantly offset by stylish work by Lorengar and Munguía, and as the only (slightly truncated) recording of Lleó's adaptation [see Andrew Lamb's article for its convoluted history] this is eminently recommendable.
