La mala sombra (Serrano)
Cora Raga, Trini Avellí,
Antonio Palacios, Asensio, Gil. c. Pascual Godés
Blue Moon 7543
This little one-act sainete dates from 1906, and was written
to a farcical libretto by the Quintero brothers as a sequel to their previous
year's success with El mal de amores. The four
numbers presented here in a historic performance from 1933 only last about 13',
but Raga and her colleagues make the most of their opportunities - especially
Palacios in a very funny parody of Andalucian canto jondo and
perhaps even Falla's El amor brujo! This makes an enjoyable filler for
the major selection from Serrano's last, uncompleted zarzuela Golondrina de
Madrid
