This minature zarzuela has only a few minutes music, though what there is shows genéro chico at its liveliest and most varied best, including a Japanese Polka and the well-known Habanera del Pompón. Here we get most of the dialogue as well, as a coupling to the complete El año pasado por agua, and the performance is a good one - not least for the contributions of veterans Pérez Carpio and Ligero.
