Although it may lack the musical substance of its companion La fiesta de San Antón Arniches' sainete shares the warm sentimentality and genial high spirits of the later score. Argenta's version is essentially complete, and after some distracting phasing at the start of the neat Preludio sound and transfer are generally worthy of him and his exemplary cast.
